MEMES…the building blocks of our WORLDVIEW

In 1976, in his seminal book The Selfish Gene, scientist Richard Dawkins proposed that ideas spread from mind to mind, much like a virus does in living organisms and these “units of cultural information”  can evolve, compete, mutate and become extinct, much like genes do. Dawkins named these catchy ideas ” memes“.

The students were given a basic handout on memes but here is an additional links for those who might be interested in learning more about the study of memetics.
